Filter – The Amalgamut

I remember buying this album long ago, intrigued by a song I heard off a commercial for the Hummer H2 (posted below). Upon listening to the CD, The Only Way (Is The Wrong Way) didn’t turn out to be my favorite track, which I am always grateful for when I purchase an album. At the time I was reading everything I could get my eyes on about Columbine, and the song Columind eventually made its way into a paper I wrote for a high school class. My Long Walk To Jail, along with The Missing, also became two of my favorite Filter songs.

Filter formed in Cleveland in 1993, and has since produced six studio albums. It has been said that a new album may be released this year.

As far as the Filter-inspired artwork goes, creating it was pretty straightforward, though the pose was semi-difficult and I’m sure I looked ridiculous.

Just what is an amalgamut? It may have been born from the verb amalgamate: to combine or unite to form one organization or structure. But I’d like to think it’s a secret word that only Richard Patrick, Steve, Frank and Geno know the true meaning of.
