This past Friday I decided to create my own take on an album cover from one of the more sentimental bands in my life. One of my earliest memories of music involves a cassette player, neoprene hand weights, and a boundless need to run that most children have when they are little. Every night my mother would pop in a tape and work out on our mini trampoline to her favorite musicians – namely Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, The Cure, U2 and The Police. I have fond memories of running around our one-story condo to People Are People and Hungry Like The Wolf. I was always the wolf, and would later be disappointed to see that other species were in fact featured in the music video.
In 1976, The Cure began life as Easy Cure. Since then the band, headed by Robert Smith, has produced an immense collection of beautiful tunes loved by people across the globe.
Favorites off this collection: The Walk, Just Like Heaven, Friday I’m In Love, Boys Don’t Cry, and Lullaby. I’d really love to explore the Lullaby mood, lyrics and overall beautifully dark presence in another photograph.
Side note: Sometimes I can’t listen to In Between Days without my heart breaking. Maybe it’s just me.
